Mission Church

Christ Central East Bay

A sent people, called to live out the gospel wherever God places us.

Our Story

When God brought us back from the COVID season, the world had changed. Many in our congregation had moved to the East Bay, and the long commutes that once felt normal — both for work and for worship — no longer made sense. We wanted the church to be closer to where people were already living and building their lives.

So we took a leap of faith. We invested in a second site in Berkeley, gathering a core team of believers who were ready to plant roots and grow a gospel community on the other side of the Bay. What began as a campus became something more — a church with its own identity, its own leaders, and its own calling.

In May 2026, we formally launched Christ Central East Bay as a Mission Church under the leadership of Pastor Simon Yang. We raised and ordained East Bay deacons — men called to serve this new congregation with faithfulness and love. It was a commissioning moment for our entire church family: a reminder that we are not here to gather inward, but to be sent outward.

Our prayer is that Christ Central East Bay will continue to grow and, Lord willing, become a fully particularized church in the near future. Praise God for His faithfulness through every season!

From Our Overflow Retreat

Where Christ Central East Bay was commissioned

Whether you came with great anticipation or quiet curiosity, we believe this gathering is not an accident. These days are set apart for you to step away from the noise, slow your pace, and make room for God to meet you in fresh and personal ways.

As we gather, we also carry with us the joy of celebrating another anniversary as a church family — a reminder of God's faithfulness through every season. We remember how He has led us, sustained us, and grown us together, and we come with thankful hearts for all He has done.

At the same time, this is not only a moment to look back, but to look forward. Our commissioning service of Christ Central East Bay reminds us that we are a sent people, called to live out the gospel wherever God places us.

So come with open hearts and expectant faith. Engage fully, worship freely, listen carefully, and be ready for what the Lord wants to do in you and through you. May Overflow be a time of encouragement, restoration, and spiritual renewal that continues long after we leave this place.
